Why I am a Photographer.....
Light and art. I may not consider myself an artist, but I know that the art of light (photography), helped me through the darkest time in my life. I wish I could say that I always had a camera in my hand since I was a kid, but that is not true. My husband bought me a camera during this difficult time. At first it was a needed distraction; learning how to use my Nikon. But with time, it allowed me to learn how to cope with my grief and see the world around me as beautiful again.
I took those photography skills I learned and put them into a business after being asked by many to take pictures of their families. I feel blessed that I am able to capture fleeting moments of my own family as well. I create beautiful images that show the connections between people who love each other. That makes me smile!
I have also been a science teacher for over 12 years now, so I decided to take my two passions.....photography and teaching...and combine them. I want every parent to be able to get amazing pictures of their children. Of course, we all need a professional photographer once in a while, but how many of us can afford one every day? I truly believe that parents are the best photographers because they are present when the sweet and spontaneous parts of life happen. These parents just need to learn how to use their camera in the most effective way! This is why I offer classes, workshops, and one-on-one mentoring sessions.
